Ntombifuthi Zikalala Mvelase is an Independent Non-Executive Directo​r​ of the Board of Airports Company South Africa and was appointed with effect from 1 September 2018.

​She is a renowned women's rights and gender activist and has done research into the criminal justice system and was involved with the implementation of the women's rights programme.  She has worked, among others, as a provincial manager, KwaZulu-Natal, for the Commission on Gender Equality and as a director for the Domestic Violence Assistance Programme.  She joined the Department of Mineral Resources (Minerals and Energy) in 2001 as a deputy director-general: Mineral Policy and Investment Promotion.  In 2008 she was appointed as the acting CEO for the State Diamond Trader and was subsequently appointed as the CEO. She is currently in legal practice.
